How To Prevent Access to Your Mobile Phone Provider's Internet Service When Using A Blackberry and Avoid Incurring Data Charges

If you are paying for Blackberry data services but don't have a mobile internet plan with your mobile phone provider, then you could eventually incur mobile data charges outside of your allowance if your phone is not set up to avoid this.

Mobile data charges without an internet browsing plan can be incurred by accessing your Blackberry's browser or by using an application that makes use of your mobile phone provider's APN settings.

To prevent this:
  1. Select Menu
  2. Go to Options
  3. Go to Advanced Options
  4. Go to TCP/IP
  5. Make sure that the field under APN is cleared, otherwise, you risk being charged.
